Who we are
This Privacy Policy describes how PALS Learning Center Hillsborough (“PALS”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit our website at https://www.palshillsborough.com (the “Site”) or interact with us by phone, text, or email.
Information we collect
Contact details. When you book an appointment, request information, or otherwise contact us, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, your student’s name and grade level, and any details you choose to share about academic needs.
Comments. When visitors leave comments on the Site we collect the data shown in the comments form, plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymized string (hash) of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it; their privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media. If you upload images to the Site, please avoid uploading images that include embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the Site can download and extract any location data from images.
Cookies. If you leave a comment on the Site you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience. If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie is set to test whether your browser accepts cookies. When you log in, we set additional cookies to save your login information and display choices; these cookies expire after a fixed period (typically two days for login, one year for display preferences). If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie storing the post ID is saved in your browser and expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites. Articles or pages on this Site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor had visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you are logged in to that website.
SMS and text messaging
If you provide your mobile phone number and consent to receive text messages from PALS Learning Center Hillsborough (for example, appointment reminders, class updates, or other service communications), the following applies:
No mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All other categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us, or by contacting us using the information below. Message and data rates may apply.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate our business (for example, scheduling, email or SMS delivery, website hosting, and payment processing) and only to the extent necessary to perform those services. We may also disclose information when required by law. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For users that register on the Site, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this Site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
